Archives For April 2012

Craig Redman is an Australian born artist based in NYC, and is perhaps most famous for being the man behind Darcel. His latest endeavor, in conjunction with Turkish Airlines, is an ad campaign called “Passenger Portraits“. Using his highly stylized illustration style, Redman has created a series of 12 celebrity portraits that will be displayed all over the world. Not only is this simple, iconic style an innovative way to use celebrities in advertising, it also translates seamlessly across cultures.

Here are a few of his other celebrity portraits. The predecessors, if you will, to the “Passenger Portraits” series.

*Thanks @LindsB for the find.

This morning’s little gem is a cover of Pearl Jam’s, Just Breathe by Willie Nelson. Although it doesn’t deviate a lot from the original, it is very Willie Nelson with that country twang. Listen to it at Rolling Stone.

If you’re a designer, chances are you’ve needed to sample a typeface before purchasing it. It can be a massive pain in the butt. Well, not anymore. The guys over at FontShop have made it super easy, by creating a Photoshop plugin. It provides a simple way to try fonts in context before purchasing them. Kudos to the FontShop team for this!

Wow, this is greatness.  Steve Aoki, Kid Cudi, and Travis Barker put together this little party anthem. Enjoy.

This is such a fun song by the Las Vegas band, Imagine Dragons.
